For the new QUANTUM QXE woofer series, the ESX engineers have developed completely new cast aluminum baskets. For these baskets special emphasis has been placed on two characteristics: the largest possible centering to ensure optimal stroke of the cone and a very good rear ventilation of the spider and voice coil. This reduces the compression of the cone deflection and improves the cooling of the voice coil. For a further improvement of the cooling and to increase the load capacity, the T-Plate was additionally provided with ventilation holes. The 76 mm (3 “) voice coil on black anodized aluminum former is driven by two powerful 100 oz. (Y30) magnets, which ensures an extremely high efficiency up to 89 dB. The 40 mm long wound voice coil gives the cone a linear excursion of +/- 14 mm and a mechanical excursion of up to +/- 22 mm. Thereby, the scooped paper cone with double-stitched foam surround delivers an enormous sound pressure and precisely sounding basses.
